Soccer Coaching International is a great resource I have personally used for the last couple of years. Its editorial features that have been compiled from around the world make compelling reading and have created many interesting debates amongst the coaches I work with. The website has been an invaluable tool for planning, preparation and communication. Training sessions can be compiled by selecting drills from the library or composing your own.

From the editor

Spring has arrived! And with the spring also the second issue of 2008. I always look forward to this season, because football is being played all over the world. It marks the final stages of some competitions and the beginning of other competitions. It also brings us the preparations for Euro 2008. A great time of the year with football everywhere around the world.

In this issue SoccerCoachingInternational talked with Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez, who claims he is not doing anything in particular to substantiate the success of the club. Our second article comes from the Brazilian Serie A, where Adilson Batista is in charge of Cruzeiro and talked to us about tactical understanding. In Portugal and Germany we visited the academies of Belenenses and Schalke 04 to take a look at their youth programs. Back in the Netherlands we visited Lambert Jager who coaches the goalkeepers at Eredivisie club Vitesse Arnhem.

Christian Lavers is back with part 1 of his series on Midfield Organization in a 4-4-2. New to our writing staff is Andrew Blight, who coaches the Newcastle United U15s and tackles the subject of counter attacking. Training Sessions from around the world and Paul Cooper’s column makes the magazine complete! Another great issue with a wide variety of topics.
