60: Jul-Oct 2012
Dear Subscribers, Contributors and Partners,
Under the veil of London 2012 Olympic activity and in the wake of Euro2012, the 2012-13 major
league seasons have started, from La Liga to Serie A and The Premiership to Eredivisie, just to
mention but a few. Questions will be asked, and ultimately answered; will Van Persie triumph at
Manchester United or will he be eclipsed by another Premiership mega-star or budding starlet,
and can Barça continue to thrill and dominate with their mesmerizing and emphatic winning
brand of football that has become the envied benchmark in Spain and of course, Europe. The
European Champions League competition has also begun, and this also promises to provide
many a mouth-watering encounter of clubs and superstars; I for one cannot wait to witness the
history-making ‘clássicos’ that will take place.
In Issue 60 of SoccerCoachingInternational, our cover story features Tugberk Tanrivermis, Reserve team coach at Galatasaray SK (Turkey). Tugberk represents a young generation of coach in Turkish football; with passion, enthusiasm and energy from an inherited rich football coaching philosophy; that has been reborn with new vigour. His venture, ambition, football coaching knowledge and philosophy are explored in conversation with SoccerCoachingInternational’s Michael Francis Pollin.
This issue also features Mark van de Wal, coach with BVV U19s, who emphasises that within the youth academy, coaching for learning and development is more important that the actual result. With the attention and detail applied to his thoughtful approach to develop the individual within the team, it is impossible not to admire van de Wal’s philosophy to coaching.
To further enrich the content, context and (global) flavour of this magazine, there are also articles from Fernando Diniz (Atlético Sorocaba), Kemal Alispahic (Tajikistan national team), Freddy Jacobs (RJO Willem II RKC U13s) and Willem van Leeuwen (Goalkeeper coach ADO ’20). I am sure that you will enjoy reading Issue 60 of SoccerCoachingInternational, and it will provide you with great insight and plenty of ideas that you can apply to you own coaching.
Best regards,
Paul van Veen
