Advocaat resigns as Belgium coach
Dick Advocaat has resigned as Belgium coach with immediate effect, the Royal Belgian Football Association (URBSFA-KBVB) has announced.
Advocaat, 62, had only taken up his role in October 2009 after leaving his position at FC Zenit St. Petersburg. He was at the helm for four games, including the last two matches of Belgium's unsuccessful FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, having combined the job with the head coach's position at Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
A URBSFA-KBVB statement said: "Chairman François De Keersmaecker has acknowledged national-team coach Dick Advocaat will end his contract with immediate effect."
